dc.description Eight former Saint Mary's College students who went on to train for the priesthood at Holy Heart Seminary (l to r): Michael Laba (graduated from Saint Mary's in 1922, ordained 1928), Alfred Leverman (ordained 1932, Bishop of Halifax 1948, Bishop of Saint John 1953), William Burns (Arts class of 1923), ?, ?, ?, ?, and Henry Durney (Arts class ca. 1924, ordained 1929). Burns enjoyed a distinguished career as Vicar General to the diocese's Bishop (exercising executive powers) from ca. 1942-1959. He also served on Saint Mary's Senate and as Vice Chancellor ca. 1951-1959. Some details credited to alumnus Ervin J. Doak (Commerce class of 1962).
