b&w photograph
Good condition: staple marks on all edges, top right corner torn, photo yellowing, and tape on top two corners on reverse.
Panoramic photo of a reception probably in the days leading up to Convocation, as priests and faculty mingle socially with soon-to-be graduates. In the very centre of the photo, Father Fischer (in profile, wearing glasses, SMU President 1959-1967) chats with Geology faculty Dr. Simpson (much shorter, back to camera). A bit further back, still centre, Science student John Boyle (dark hair, glasses, necktie, facing camera) chats to two faculty. Standing next to Dr. Simpson's right elbow, Father Stewart (dark hair, black suit, glasses, back to camera) chats to tall Commerce student Barry Lacombe. At far right is Arts student J. Kelleher (light suit, crewcut). At the very back, centre, white-haired J. Loewenstein (in profile, Art and French faculty) raises his left hand to adjust his glasses, while at his right shoulder, Engineering student Tom D'Entremont glances downward. At left by the flower arrangements, English faculty K. MacKinnon (arms crossed, glasses) is deep in discussion with Commerce student Pierre Champagne (much shorter, in profile). At far left Biology lab professor Enriqueta Rojo stands (back to camera) holding a drink, handbag on her arm. Bottom centre, Father Rourke (white hair, glasses) looks directly into the camera. Identities confirmed by J. Mills in 2016.
