dc.description A lab technician in a coat studies food specimens (spices) for traces of bacteria in SMU's National Microbiology Monitoring Lab. The lab was installed in Sep. 1974 by Health and Welfare Canada/Health Protection Branch for the Atlantic region for the purpose of studying the quality of foods distributed nationally. The lab closed in March 1979. See article and photo in The Times, May 1975, pg. 21, for more information.
