dc.description.abstract Public schools in Nova Scotia, as elsewhere, provide a multi-tiered education system which actively discriminates against women and persons of colour. In this paper, I will review the educational policies, pedagogical innovations and curricular practice (specifically in English and Social Studies) within the context of Nova Scotia to show how those inequities continue to be reinforced and to show how feminist pedagogy could address the litany of discriminatory practices. Lastly, I will explore the potential responses that feminist teachers may receive in our quest and propose principles for implementation of more effective change.
