dc.description.abstract This paper provides a review of the literature on language and organizational change and suggests that a need exists for a new approach to change that considers the relationship between language, power and identity. Drawing on the methodologies of critical sensemaking and discourse analysis, the approach proposed in this paper will look at the power / language relationships of change and identity in organizations. This approach will be used in a future study of two organizations that have implemented empowerment initiatives to affect organizational change. en_CA
