Mining metrics : a comparative case study assessing impacts of non-financial risk

Abstract

Qualitative review of academic and professional publications was undertaken to determine non-financial risk factors affecting mining projects. The research provides guidance for the development of a non-financial risk framework, which serves as a basis for analysis. An evaluation of two mine operations is presented on a comparative list of similar and dissimilar approaches to non-financial risk mitigation. The reasons for relative project success and failure are identified.
