dc.description.abstract This paper considers the impact of education on development with a gender perspective. The paper selects four areas of interest: Education and Development, Gender and Development, Gender and Education, and Low Transition Rates of Girls from Primary to Secondary schools with the main focus on rural Kenya specifically Bomwanda clan, in Kisii County. The paper reviews the evidence from literature review and personal experience on how women’s illiteracy can be traced to low transition rates from primary to secondary schools. It seeks to explore gender disparities in education and development processes. Finally, there are recommendations. en_CA
