b&w photograph
Good condition: although there are some creases, they are mostly around the edges and the edges are also yellowing
Five couples pose for a group photo on the main staircase of the Nova Scotia Hotel on the night of the Graduation Ball 1954, the men in black tie and their unidentified dates in formal gowns. From l to r: Gerald David (Arts, ordained 1958), Bill MacDonald (unconfirmed), Ken Driscoll (Arts) with Ann Chiasson (unconfirmed), Ray Mombourquette (Arts) with Margaret (unconfirmed), and Ken Robertson (Arts, ordained 1958). Originally the middle boy had been identified as Jack Gordon, but as of 2017 J. Mills could find no student with the surname Gordon.
This photo was donated to the Archives in 2002 by Raymond Mombourquette and Bernadine Halliday. 'St. Marys [sic] University Graduation Ball N.S. Hotel May/54' is typed on the front. On the reverse, 'ARTHUR DAVIES PHOTOGRAPHS' is stamped in purple, and the following is written in blue pen: 'Bottom: Fr. Gerald David. Bill MacDonald. Jack Gordon & Ann Chiasson. Ray Mombourquette & Marg. Fr. Ken Robertson.'
