Bibliography for science teachers

Abstract

In this study I propose to give an annotated bibliography of the books available in the Physical Sciences and in the Science of Mathematics in the Halifax area. It is not intended to produce an annotated bibliography of the books dealing with all branches of the Physical Sciences and the Science of Mathematics; but rather of those books that would be of interest and importance to teachers in the Secondary School level. The bibliography will include the five great divisions of Physical Science, such as: Astronomy, Physics, Chemistry, Geology and Biology; and the Science of Mathematics. The primary aim of this bibliography is devoted to the historical development, aims, principles, philosophical aspects, methodological aspects, materials for instruction and the aids in teaching on the subject matter of the Physical Science and Science of Mathematics. It also includes the biography of some of the most prominent scientists, consequently the bibliography excludes those books which are tertual in context. The significant purpose of this study is to direct the secondary teachers to a better understanding of the books available to them for their professional use. This compilation it arranged in alphabetical order according to the names of the authors. Only the books in Saint Mary’s University Library are catalogued in this study.
