dc.description From Burke-Gaffney fonds. Stamped on reverse: 'The New armilla' and five Chinese characters and 'The Celestial globe' and three Chinese characters. Accompanying note reads: 'Photographs of the astronomical instruments of Father Matt. Ricci, s.j. (1552 - 1610) at Pekin (China). Photographs purchased at Pekin by Fr. Frank D. McDonald (1881 - ) in Pekin about 1938'.
