dc.description.abstract The problem of handwriting legibility is discussed, including suggested criteria for categorizing such problems, and an examination of two current methods of instruction/remediation. Then the results of a questionnaire, which was devised to ascertain the present grade levels and methods of cursive writing instruction in the classrooms of Halifax, Dartmouth, and Halifax County schools, are examined. The ramification of the inconsistencies of these programs forms the last two segments of the thesis: 1. “The Design – Let’s Write Right!” which involves an in depth description of the steps taken in writing the cursive writing text (from discovering the need, to designing and writing the instructional/remediation book, and finally using it as pilot project curriculum material) and 2. the cursive writing text itself “Let’s Write Right!”
