An Engineering student in checkered bell bottoms launches his model airplane as his fellow competitors look on during the Aerodynamics Endurance contest in the McNally Gymnasium (in the basement of the old chapel) during Saint Mary's Open House (see pg. 134-136 of the 1974 Santamarian yearbook). Waiting their turn to launch their aircraft are Vic Thibodeau (check shirt, Engineering class of 1974), Mike d'Entremont (chunky sweater, hand on hip, Engineering class of 1974), Brian Jollimore (white shirt and glasses, Engineering class of 1974), and Arthur Ball (very wide bell bottoms, holding saucer-shaped entry in both hands, Engineering class of 1974).
See the full story on pg. 1-2 of February 1974 issue of The Times. In 1989 this double-height space was renovated to house the Faculty Lounge, IT office, The Den computer lab, and classrooms.
