Convocation begins, and Murray Wilson (left, Assistant Registrar) and Elizabeth Chard (right, History faculty from 1961, then Registrar 1973-2005, also instrumental in establishing women's varsity sports at SMU) lead the faculty procession up the centre aisle of what was the interior of the original 1953 chapel and was converted into the McNally Theatre Auditorium which opened on March 1 1982 (lower level of the former chapel contains the Faculty Lounge, The Den computer lab, and classrooms).
Among the Arts graduates (their hoods flipped over to reveal the satiny underside, not the white surface) are Warren Dixon (bottom left corner, sweeping dark hair, glasses); behind Dixon's right shoulder is Mike Maloney (full black moustache, black hair). Two rows behind Dixon on the aisle is Maggie Lind (centre hair parting, glasses), and behind her right shoulder is Kevin Connors, also on aisle. Two more rows back, also on aisle, is Terry Wadden (centre parting, light moustache), glancing sideways at the dignitaries proceeding up the aisle.
