dc.description Picture of a Saint Mary's Window display on Barrington Street in the 1955-1961 period. On the left hand side there is a white male youth looking at the display. On the right hand side there is a man in a sailor's uniform looking at the display. On the
dc.description Picture is dated by both the pictures in the display and by the reflection of the store across the street. One of the pictures in the display dates from 1955. The store reflected in the window is Brown Furriers which is still in the city directory at 424 Barrington in 1959, but is gone in 1961 (directory for 1960 was not available at time of research). Also the photo is located by the fact that Brown Furriers was on Barrington Street. The cataloguer through a conversation with Jean Hattie, who knew of somone who worked there, has learned that Brown Furriers was likely located at the corner of Sackville and Barrington. It was certainly on Barrington between Spring Gardern Road and Duke Street. Picture came from the Public Affairs Department.
