From External Affairs. Copy 1: '994.0' is written on the reverse in black pen. Copy 2: '135-9' is written in black marker in the white space at the top of the photo. On reverse, '998.4' is written in black pen in the top right corner. A sticker on the back reads: 'PLEASE RETURN TO: INFORMATION & PUBLIC RELATIONS, SAINT MARY'S UNIVERSITY HALIFAX N.S. B3H 3C3.' Typed on a piece of paper taped below that is: 'Photo cutline: As a research assistant to Dr. Keith Vaughan, Saint Mary's chemistry student Gerard Llanos records the effect that a new organic compound has on an enzyme similar to those involved in the action of cancer-causing agents. (Stevens)" Written on the paper is pencil is "3 TAB," and "summer - 1981" is written on it in blue felt-tip. The white edges of this copy have been trimmed off, making it 13 cm x 16 cm.
