b&w photograph
Excellent condition but the top edge is rough
Photo showing Bill Mingo (Q.C., bent over, recipient of an honourary Doctor of Laws) and Joseph Jabbra (far right, Vice President Academic) onstage. The gentleman in profile seated between them is English professor Cyril Byrne, who later chaired the Department of Irish Studies. This space was the main level of the original chapel (built in 1953, complete with altar). By the early 1980's it was renovated into its present form (with the stage moved to the east wall and the auditorium seating in the west wall, adjoining McNally Building), and officially opened as the McNally Theatre Auditorium on March 1 1982 while still retaining the external facade of the original 1953 church. Assistance in identification provided by Ervin J. Doak (Commerce class of 1962).
