dc.description |
C. Anthony Law was Artist-in-Residence at Saint Mary's University from 1967 to 1980, and was the first curator of Saint Mary's Art Gallery. He was made an honorary Doctor of Letters in 1981, along with his wife, Jane.
Before arriving at Saint Mary's, Law had a long career in the Canadian Navy, first enlisting in 1939 as a naval officer, and eventually retiring at the rank of commander in 1966. His dramatic paintings of naval conflict has made him one of Canada's most important official war artists of the Second World War. |
