Justine Colley, winner of the Buddy Daye Scholarship award, pictured with her family as well as NDP members Leonard Perarra and Megan Leslie (left side of photo), and Dr. Colin Dodds (Vice President, Academic and Research 1997-2000, SMU President 2000-2015) (right side of photo). The Buddy Daye Scholarship fund is for African Nova Scotians students (aged 14-24) who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, athletic accomplishments, and community service. The award is named after Buddy Daye, the first Canadian Junior Lightweight Champion boxer as well as a founding member of the Black United Front and the Black Learners Advisory Committee. |
