Very good condition
Six priests (in nonclerical clothing) enjoy a meal together in the priests' dining room (see pg. 59 of the 1951 Collegian yearbook; now MM331). It is clearly the same room and occasion as in 98.04.0336. From the front of the photo going clockwise: Father Stewart (check jacket), Father Belair, Father Burke-Gaffney (who sported a white beard by 1970), Father Fischer (with dark beard, SMU President 1959-1967), Father Czako (at the end of the table), and Father Rourke. Identities confirmed by J. Mills in 2016. In 1970 Saint Mary's became co-ed and also secularized. These two companion photos may commemorate the Jesuit faculty's "last supper" in their private dining room just off their living quarters in the south wing of McNally Building, before their departure. These six priests' sombre mood contrasts with the more convivial atmosphere at the other table in 98.04.0336.
From Burke-Gaffney fonds. Jesuits identified by Kevin Cleary on June 16, 1998.
