Portrait of 61 boys and teenagers in eight rows on the steps of Saint Mary's College on Windsor Street. It seems doubtful that all these people are a Grade 9 class: the 2 boys perching on the stone pillars are very young, and others in the middle are young adults.
Embossed in lower right corner of mat: 'Gauvin & Gentzel, Halifax, Canada.' Written in pencil near bottom of mat: 'Grade IX 1929 S.M.C.' Written in pencil in top left corner of reverse: '2' and '1929,' and in top right corner of reverse: '50.0'. From Art Gallery.
