b&w photograph
Very good condition: crease in top left corner, residue along right side, lower right corner fraying, black mark on bottom edge near stamp, and tape on top two corners of reverse.
Portrait of 19 boys and one Brother in three rows (1 standing, 1 sitting on chairs, 1 sitting on the floor).
Embossed in lower left corner: 'Gauvin & Gentzel, Halifax, Can.' Written in pencil on reverse: 'St. Mary's College, 3rd Collegiate Class, 1915-16.' Written in pencil in top left corner of reverse: '4,' and in top right corner of reverse: '8.0.' Came in white mat with '8.0' written in pencil on reverse. Note from Art Gallery cites names as 'Frank Walsh, John Long, Gerald Burns, Howard Parsons, Reg Young, Charlie Sprague, Brother Culhane, Duncan Campbell, Steve Tobin, John Moss, Frank Sullivan, Micky McPherson, John Hartley, Harold Connelly, Jimmy Carroll'. Only 15 boys are named. Furthermore, since (in comparison with other photos from about this time), Gerald Burns is without doubt the 5th boy from the left (not the 3rd), the list of names is not necessarily in correct order. From Art Gallery.
